Yes, this is for students, but not JUST students. One of the best ways to develop unity in the church is for us to keep a finger on the pulse of each ministry. My hope is that you will become more in touch with what’s happening with our youth. And you may even learn something along the way. So journey with us to the Summit…
Last night we heard a message from our newest youth leader, Carolina. She shared about her experiences with the Holy Spirit. We all know the three parts of the trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s easy to identify with God as a father. (Pastor Max spoke Sunday about the Father’s blessing.) Most of us have some idea of what a loving father should be. Then we have the Son, Jesus. We can identify with Jesus because he was human. He had friends, family, and feelings we can relate to. Then we have the Holy Spirit. It can be a bit more challenging to understand/identify with the Holy Spirit.
As always, we look to the Bible for clarity. The Spirit was there at the very beginning: Genesis 1:2- “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”
Carolina spoke of how the Holy Spirit can sometimes manifest himself as that still, small voice that guides us.
John 14:26- “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you.”
1 Corinthians 3:16- “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s spirit lives in you?”
He lives in YOU.
There is a light within you that will guide you, comfort you, empower you, and encourage you. You may be facing some obstacles in you life right now. Things may even seem insurmountable. Maybe you are carrying some difficult things: hatred, sadness, anxiety, stress, hurt, bad thoughts, doubt, harsh words, or you’ve simply lost it in every way.
Galatians 5:22-23- “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
This is what the Holy Spirt produces in us… in YOU. When I go to the orchard to pick fresh fruit, I can’t help but bite into a piece right away. It’s sweet, yummy, and nourishing. When we activate the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, it produces the same results: delicious sweetness, nourishing to the soul. (Fruit is called “produce”, people!)
Take a moment today and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal himself to you in a fresh new way. Watch what he produces in and through you!
Much love and many blessings,
