Summit Youth has been busy. This last week was spent preparing for our Annual Teens Take Over Service. At this special Sunday morning service the Teens, leaders and I run the entire service from start to finish. Grace Zucchero was a champ on our overheads. Saerim & Vittoria were the friendliest greeters and did a fantastic job at morning announcements. Michelle & DD covered welcomes, intros, testimonies, and other specifics. And Summit Band blew our minds. They played Hillsongs Young & Free "Alive" and totally rocked it. At the end of each song the congregation cheered them on. It was beautiful. I preached the morning message and after service the kids served up a delicious Italian lunch to our church families.
The service was emotional and extremely moving for everyone there. I believe the heart of our adult congregation was rejuvenated by the spirit of the teens. Working with young people is hard work, but it is such a blessing. I learn more about patience, wisdom, and love every time I interact with the kids. They are continuously teaching me about myself and the work that God still needs to do in me, and they don't even realize the change that is happening in me.
To make the weekend even better we spent Friday night together at the Hillsong United Concert in Boston. What an INCREDIBLE night. It may have been the best night I've had in 6 months. I loved every moment of it. The worship was amazing, but watching the kids worship was the most moving. I would look across the aisle and see them worshiping with a glow across their faces. They were embracing the presence of the Holy Spirit while pouring out the love and thanks to Him. It was beautiful. What a fun night. Totally exhausting, but SO incredible!
Well, this next week ahead is another busy one. The kids are finalizing their Thanksgiving Delights Orders for our final fundraiser of the season. Then we will come together next Saturday after lots of shopping this week to bake these delicious goodies and sell them next Sunday. God has been good to our ministry and I can see His hand at work in what we are doing now. I am excited for our upcoming Deep Freeze Retreat. I am trusting in God to reach our teens and push them to new depths in their faith life.
