FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who can come to VBS?
All children ages 2.9 - Grade 6. Each grade will be grouped with their peers as they navigate through all the different adventures of the day.
What days are vbs happening this year?
Monday through Friday, July 17th - 21st, 2023
What is the time frame?
Our program kicks off every morning at 9:00 A.M. and pick up is at 12:00 P.M. Arriving 5 minutes early each day is encouraged to allow for registration time, bathroom stops, and so that kids don't miss the opening program each day, which is HUGE fun!
What will kids do at VBS?
Each day kids will have a blast exploring God's word and learning about His love for them through several different stations. They will have times when they will be all together during our open and closing sessions and in-between they will separated into groups by grades where they will engage in learning about people in the Bible, have fun playing Games and munch on some snacks. This year we have a new component where we will take time to work towards a show that will have a mix of singing, skits, music, etc. They will also use art time to prepare their costumes/props for the big day!
What is the main message of the teaching at "Who God Says I am" VBS?
Children will learn a Bible Point & Verse each day that reinforces the theme of Who God Says they are. This year's theme will focus on:
- God says I am Loved
- God says I am not Alone
- God says I am Strong
- God says I am Joyful
- God says I am His Child
How are children kept organized and safe?
Children will be assigned to a small group, which we call crews. Each crew will have two adults or teen leaders responsible for up to 10 children. Crews will have the same leaders each day so kids will know what to expect throughout the week. All of our volunteers are CORI checked and attend necessary training and meetings prior to VBS in order to best care for children. We also have individuals who will act as security around church exits and the outdoor areas we use, especially during class transition times.
Can parents hang out during VBS?
This is a drop off camp, but if you would like to stay, we would love to get to know you so you are more than welcome to hang with us. We will give you a name tag so that all volunteers know that you are known and we ask that you stay in the main spaces.
How are emergencies handled?
Thankfully, we've never had any real emergencies. We have evacuation plans for all church events, in case of emergency. We have first-aid stations on site for any small scrapes or bumps in need of an ice pack or bandaid. You will receive an Incident Report Form if your child needed any type of medical care. We will keep your contact information on file to contact you quickly if need be. You will always be called if any other emergency protocol is taken.
What is this new component about a show all about?
Kids will prepare towards a show throughout the week. Some kids may sing, dance, be puppeteers, act, etc. We will even have some kids be stage hands, or work on tech like lights, sound and visuals. We will do our best to give each child a role they are most interested and comfortable in. This will be a good experience for them to share what they've learned through the week and even encourage them to be confident as they shine in their gifts and talents.
For kids entering grades 2+, when you register your child(ren), you will have opportunity to share which role your child would like to participate in. We will do our best to place them in this role, but we will make a final determination when it's time to start as there are many factors in assigning roles!
For kids younger than grade 2, they will all participate in group songs, so it will be less need for them to select a preffered role.

wHAT IF MY chILD(REN) CAN'T MAKE IT TO THE SHOW?
If your child is unavailable for the show, they are still welcome to join us for the week. The week is mostly about learning about Who God Says I Am - so we don't want them to miss that. They will still enjoy the Bible class, art, games, snacks, and can certainly help us prepare for the show.
The registration form will have a question asking if your child will attend so please state whether they can make it and we will prepare accordingly.
